Main Bathroom Reconstruction

Completed 2024

This project involved the careful reconstruction of a main bathroom within a distinctive architectural home defined by a curved exterior wall and glass brick glazing.

The original layout was visually striking but spatially inefficient. A curved masonry form sat directly above a skylight to the lower level, requiring disciplined demolition and structural consideration to preserve light while improving function.

Rather than removing the curvature, we refined it. The scale of the glass brick wall was reduced to create better proportion and clarity, while maintaining the home’s architectural character.

A generous engineered Bella Carrara shower seat replaces the former spa arrangement, creating a grounded and usable shower space. Natural Carrara kit-kat tiling wraps the curve, reinforcing the geometry with fine texture and repetition.

Rock Salt Maui floor tiles introduce depth and variation underfoot. An 80mm mitred-edge vanity adds quiet weight, paired with a Toto smart toilet for elevated comfort.

The result is a more resolved and practical space — lighter in feel, stronger in proportion and aligned with contemporary living, while respecting the original architecture.
